About Me

Marco Barroso is an acoustic guitarist/composer in South West Florida, USA. He grew up between Miami, FL and Margarita Island, Venezuela and started playing classical guitar at age 13 and drums at 15.

By the time he was 16, he was invited to audition as a guitarist for Iguana Reggae, the top performing reggae band in Margarita Island, and among their highlights, co-headlined at a festival with an audience of over 5,000 people.

Marco is also the drummer for international blues and rock band Martini Russa.

He moved permanently to the United States and joined the U.S. Air Force in 2001, where he finished a 22-year career. His military career gave him an opportunity to live and hone his musical skills in several countries around the world. While in Japan, Marco composed, recorded, and arranged the hit “Big Mama” for Soul Camp in 2003, which became a national mother’s day hymn featured on TV and radio commercials, peaking at #7 on the Japanese Billboards.

While in Spain, Marco played drums and percussion for several bands including La Hoguera who was chosen as the soundtrack for the national Bi-Centenial celebrations. In addition, Marco recorded for several projects and performed at venues and theaters across Southern Spain with Antonio Trigo, Alberto Mvundi, Flexball, and Hierbacana.

While living in Argentina, Marco reunited with a childhood friend, Hernan Alfonzo, and composed, recorded, and released the album Conectados. Finally, during his years living in Slovakia, Marco was the second half of the guitar duo Viac ako Nič.

Marco currently resides in Naples, Florida and performs solo, fingerstyle guitar in venues across southwest FL, where he plays an intimate, varied repertoire of Bossa Nova, Jazz, Classical, and Pop hits, all on the elegant nylon-string guitar.
